Dr. Mark Kaufman is a general internist and has served as Chief Medical Officer for the Wisconsin Hospital Association since November of 2018. As CMO, he engages in public policy, advocacy, physician leadership development, clinical quality, data analytics and physician workforce issues.

Mark joined Dean Clinic in 1982 and practiced full time for 16 years. He gradually transitioned to leadership and served as CMO of Dean Health Plan, Board Chair of Dean Health System, interim CEO of Dean Clinic and CMO of Dean Clinic.

In 2013, Mark retired from Dean and established his own health care consulting company with a focus on value-based care, clinical practice variation and physician leadership. He has served in physician advisor roles at the Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality (WCHQ) and the Wisconsin Health Information Organization (WHIO). He currently serves as a Board Director for Navitus Health Solutions and served on the SSM Health board in St. Louis, Missouri, from 2014 to 2019.

Mark received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He did his internal medicine residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.
